Whistleblower Indian magazine, Tehelka has published 15 names from among the list of black money account holders in the LGT bank of Liechtenstein- a private bank near Munich, whose names were handed over by the German government to India on March 18, 2009. Indian finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee had earlier refused to announce these names in public, citing inter-governmental agreements.
The names of the black money account holders are: Manoj Dhupelia, Rupal Dhupelia, Mohan Dhupelia, Hasmukh Gandhi, Chintan Gandhi, Dilip Mehta, Arun Mehta, Arun Kochar, Gunwanti Mehta Rajnikant Mehta, Prabodh Mehta, Ashok Jaipuria, Raj Foundation, Urvashi Foundation and Ambrunova Trust . Details into the actual identity of these names are being looked into. The only information known till now is that the last three trusts are registered outside India. It is also being learnt that some of these people are none but the co-owners of the scam-tainted Kochi IPL team.
Though this Tehelka list is only a minute fraction considering the vast number of banks especially the Swiss ones where these black money is stacked, however it is the first public revelation of names of black money account holders. This list of black money launderers from the Swiss banks needs to be revealed, as that is where all these money are mostly stacked.
Where is Liechtenstein? Liechtenstein is the smallest yet the richest German-speaking country in the world(also the second highest per capita income) and the only alpine country to lie entirely within the Alps in Western Europe, bordered by Switzerland to the west and south and by Austria to the east. Its area is just over 160 square km(about 61.7 square miles), and it has an estimated population of 35,000. Its capital is Vaduz; the biggest town is Schaan.
